Patina Gold coarse metallic is the correct colour for the XU1.

How do you know this stuff?
We were leaning that way also, as the HQ's appear to be darker.

No problemo Tony.
How do I know these things??? Easy, XU1's weren't produced at the Pagewood plant.

Dave.

This is how the car looked when we got it. You can see from the door forward has been painted & is too dark compared to the rear 1/4. The door forward was painted with the tin on the right in the above photo.
The car below is a photo I got from the forum. It looks more like the tin that we've mixed up.
Hoping the paint mix is correct...
Thoughts anyone??
Cheers

hi years ago i had to paint the front half of an lj xu1 in mustard, the painter couldnt just get the match right, it took ages
so we eventually aggreed to masked the whole car, a quick scotch bright, and blow the lot
it took an extra half a day but it was worth it providind u have enough paint
theres nothing worse driving down the street in a 2 tone torana due to color failuer
my 2 bobs worth

The 2 tins of paint are like black & white.

Your Protec tin on the left looks about right I reckon. My mates 72 XU1 was Patina Gold and it only looked about 2 or 3 shades darker (if that makes sense) than my Champagne Met MKII. Agree with oz772 about the paint tin on the right.

Yes. That's the result of our mix on the left & the previous owners mix on the right, from using the recipes supplied by the paint manufacturers.

Looking good Tony.
I'm assuming the lighting in the spray booth is making the colour appear lighter than the Patina XU1 in the pic you posted.
How does it compare in the flesh?
