pedantic is when they knock you back on a cracked dash pad and the cigerette lighter not working :furious:
or a stone chip on one of the headlights

The problem is they will be anal about 2 or three pain in the arse things, yet they let all these other more dangerous things go!

On my HQ the guy was more worried about oil and mud build up on the Pitman arm and a wheel alingment and the wrong profile tyres! than the fact the Gearbox was shit when cold, couldnt change gears, blew smoke, shagged bushes, rear Drums that need machining, stuffed steering coupling...

If someone is goin to be pedantic they should at least do it properly....

i felt no safer leaving the rw place as i did when i got there, yet he caused me headaches for two weeks

yet you still drive it?

no i fixed those problems myself... well most of them anyway...

and while we are recommending RWC places one in the western suburbs of Melb would be great that understands old cars are old cars

I understand the fustration with the number of items that may need attention, however, I dont think we want the "its not bad for its age" to apply to the roadworthiness of a car, the car just has to be brought up to an acceptable standard compared in key areas to how it was new(tightness of steering etc), not in comparison to a new car.
I agree with some of the other posters in the fustration of the overall inconsistency of what testers pickup and miss. Every rwc ive been involved in has been dodgy in one way or another, especially ones obtained by used car dealers!. Believe that rwc testing should be removed from general workshops and just done by several government testing stations scattered around and those stations should not be doing any repairs to the vehicles they test. Possibly more faults will be picked up and it will be more difficult to pass.......while that may notsound great for the present owner of the car it certainly would make one more confident in buying a car that has a rwc.

Is a cigarette lighter a rwc requirement, or does it just come under the banner of any equipment fitted to the car must work? First thing any responsible parent with young kids does is remove the lighter away from the car.
