As said by Yel327 is true and I've posted this before which I read on a US classic car site talking about rarity and determining car values, and that there is  4 basic principles of evaluating a classic car and that is: (1) was it interesting when it was new (2) how many did they manufacture (3) did it have competition history (4) how many are left. This calculation can determine its value now, and most classic cars (not classic muscle cars) fail in the 'competition history' category which makes them less desirable/less valuable so as an example the HQ 308 4 door does get a jersey in 3 of the 4 categories, but falls short in the competition category, BUT it still pulls good money.

HQ GTS sedan was actually the only HQ homologated for Series Production and also by that Series Production homologation was accepted into GroupC in 1973. Where it falls down was there was a lot made so not rare, except for the 350 powered version where there was not much over 200 made prior to the end of HQ.

Oops, sorry. Got the years mixed up. HQ was never homologated for Series Production as far as I know. It was Bathurst 1973 where the HQ sedan raced as a 308 auto so it was Group C homologated. It was converted to a 350 manual for 1974. I think that is correct, will have a better look when I get time.

Had a better look, it was 308 manual in 1973. A few sources over the years have stated it was an auto.

They could have raced with an auto transmission if they had wanted to though.
