inlet manifold

hey all i have just bought a 2 door lx torana and its been sitting for 5 yrs i have the radiator off and the timing cover off its all crystilised wat would the inlet manifold be like would it be in the same condition as the timing cover with the coolant cheers

if the manifold is the same age as the cover id say yes.
it will probably let go at the top on the left or right between the first and last two bolts.

yeah fair enough we r takin it off tomorrow so see wat happens and we r replacing the front main as well so it should be all good be the weekend

The water jackets will be corroded and scummy,that means thermostat, temperature sender(if side of head isn't used) will be scummy.waterpump?Which unforunitly means that corroded water will be touching the water jackets in your heads and block..... They will then be scummy aswell. You've gotta draw the line somewhere or youl rebuild the whole thing.

Short of pulling the thing down and giving it a chemical bath you should get the thing flushed realy well to clean out the crap. The manifold will be coroaded like the other bits you've seen already.
