wouldn't you worry about the blood on the headrests though from the bleeding ears?

It worked well actually.
Whether or not it is legal is another issue.
As well as what happens to the thief when released from the car.
Sadly, I think you'd get done for false imprisonment.

The A-Hole would then scam you for damages done to his hearing, And naturally claim the dole forever after due to industrial deafness......

I would suggest a GPS tracker on top of this. $45-80 on eBay plus sim ($30 a year Amasim cost) , Only needs power and ground and has backup battery, can be hidden anywhere on the car (use your imagination) and some of them have remote shutdown (<20kph), immobilisation and notification if it leaves a boundary. Call the unit and it sms back the long/lat for google maps.

Yep.....
An alarm with a GPS tracker.
When the alarm is triggered, you get a message from the car alarm/ tracker.
If you want the co-ordinates of your car- you can SMS the car alarm, and it will give you the blue location dot in google maps within 20m of accuracy.
If you have an electric fule pump, you can SMS the car alarm to deactivate the fuel pump.

A 6 foot long King Brown will have similar effects too, But it's a bugger to actually use your own car after tossing the thing inside......

King Browns have straight Fangs, which gets the poison in, in one strike, although not the most poisonous. Dave I

I can feel the shivers in the spine of the thief in question as they realize the sign they seen was real.

I hear the cheap ebay ones aren't that good, just like anything cheap.
If you're serious the ones with back to base monitoring are more reliable.
