Based in SA, Arno Bay was my home track.
I was the driver and pit crew (with my dad)
I raced, painted the car, helped prepare the car for races and did general maintenance. (although we never changed the oil, good old 173's)

I raced in Dirt Circuit last year...

I worked at the " Rehn Raceway" Arno Bay track when I was 6. I was in charge of giving drivers their drinks. Does that count?

Still have the car... but currently I only use it for sprints (too pretty after it's last rebuild)
Current warior.... VL HSV Group A (Walkinshaw) running as an improved production touring car.... Curently having a re-power and dogbox fitted. On account of those bloody RX7's are so quick.....
Cheers Greg..

I owned and raced a ex hdt commodore vk as a sports
sedan in the early 90's
It was like a stripped out big banger circa 1984 big flares,
big exhaust etc
got my license through the post and first race i had kerry
bailey right behind me at symmons plains, crapped myself and was
shaking so much i couldn't hold the clutch in.
I had no idea but stuck it out, kept out of trouble and had a
ball for 2 years.
never crashed, the other blokes were brilliant and very helpful.
I just had to do it and am so glad i did, got some of the beast on
tapes too. great memories. before that i had a nitrous slr5000 that
went 11.71 quarters in 1988
my last race my little sister crewed cause everyone had gotten
over it.
I used to drive it to the track and home 2 hours one way, also have
lots of that on tapes too. if you want to go circuit racing make the effort
do it, nothing
beats being strapped in with all the gear on and living the GROUP C
fantasy we all had in the early 80's.

Glad to know there's a great depth of smart people on line & able to help people out with various ranges of knowledge.
I'm an engine builder, & also do a few chassis/roll cages & am a firm believer in building as much in house as possible, engines, g/boxes, diffs, suspension, etc etc.
I build engines for 360 sprint cars, V8 dirt modifieds, super sedans, street stocks & junior sedans (speedway).
Various drag classes, Dragsters (A/MD), super sedan & super street, starting to dabble in circuit race engines with a Tarmac Rally car, (mock up VL Walkinshaw), & last year built my wife a VN commodore saloon car (from a $300 wreck).
I also crew on an AU V8 supercar in the Fujitsu V8 series.
There's more to life than being stuck at home sitting on the lounge
I'm based in the Adelaide hills & always look forward to catching up with people at the track or a car show.
Mid 90's i built a couple of clean "street" Toranas that did well on the show scene, an LJ GTR with an alloy headed stroker 308 & a UC 4dr torana. Both cars made top 80 summernats , won heaps of SA show trophies for a few years, & were not in your face cars, more clean well built highly detailed cars, with heaps of hidden extras.
My business was concentrated at the modified street car market, & the majority of cars i built were Toranas (they were already my personal passion).
I look forward to some good chats on line with some of you, & enjoy my time on this forum.
Thanks. Craig.
