Torry Nut,

l know nothing of the car but was wondering what the ad wording was. For 75k is this a Bathurst special, unrestored or what?

Are you in the market?

Cheers Simon

Hi Guys.

Mondie said:- "Its priced very high for what looks to be a regular 72 car. You going for a look?"

AFAIK, the XU-1s made after Bathurst '72 & into early '73, were still built to that same spec. Can anybody verify this.

Dr Terry.

73 cars had double skinned tunnel and chassis supports under front guards

also some cosmetic changes , for example interior went to long grain ..

clear indicators/parkers were still on late 72 cars

Arnt the parkers in the headlights on a 73 and in the parker in the indicator on a 72 there for the wiring and headlight plugs are different too. correct me if im wrong.

and my previous should of said
"Yes upgrades to the 72 Bathurst car were also on late 72 and early 73 cars"

Scratches head ..... Early 73 changes???

- roebuck to long grain trim change
- change to parkers in headlights and amber indicator lenses
- when were changes made to gauges from imperial to metric, and change in position of handbrake light?
- when was tyre placard added?

Most of the running changes mentioned in this thread were across the board for all LJs, not just XU-1s.

My 8/73 xu-1 has the double skin in the trans tunnel, boxed sections under front guards (to accomodate proposed 308) amber indicator lens, parkers in bottom of headlamps, tyre placard on glovebox lid, speedo in metric kms/miles. My car has extra ribbing support under the headlining and has extra welds to apparently stop the driveline vibration and the hoodlining being sucked onto the driver at speed. Also on the inside of both front guards near the front lights there are 2 philip head screws (I'm told it was to try and prevent driveline vibrations?... also on my gearbox in large yellow letters is XU1.

My 2 bobs worth.

Scooter they are to hold the deflectors that stop the shit from under the guards coming out around the head light surround.Thet are a thin piece of metal with a rubber around the outside.

As far as I know, everything you've listed applies to all LJs, except the yellow XU1 (is it XU, or XU1 by the way?) which I think was started with the Bathurst 71 LCs.

Heh heh - hmmmmm  You could make a mint with one of those pens :D

XU1 boxes had at least XU if not XU1 stencilled on them in yellow paint, from factory.

Have you actually taken ur headlining out to check this? Or relied on what someone else told you? Ive never even heard of extra ribbing under the headlining... and extra welds? where on the roof?
