gday all,

I need to remove the torsion bars from the boot and was wondering if anyone has had an experience doing this job. I have read up on it in the LC Workshop manual, but i was wondering if anyone had any special tips for me.

thanks

Steve

2 things come to mind, firstly use a piece of tube on the end of the rod, they can still have a bit of force in them even with the boot open, secondly have someone hold the boot open while you do it (it really hurts when the boot lock slams into the middle of your back, been there done that :o )
You need a bit of space to swing the rods out, might be a bit hard now you've got the gas on, again watch the lid!!!

Grant, is it the same deal for the LH/LX/UC's?

If you have to do this job by yourself(have done on UC and LX), Id recommend removing the boot lid 1st. Its not a difficult job like removing a bonnet or door(pencil mark the exact pos on the hinges), just put a blanket around the rear window sill to protect it if the lid slides forwards after releasing the bolts.
