Liek if you go from 205/60.13's or something, to low profile 15; you may find the speedo isnt out to much at all!

No its not hard to get to the gear, just trace the speedo cable to the box and the gear is right on the end of the cable, youll have to unbolt it. The actual gear for the trimatics and aussie boxes is easy to replace, not so easy for a mc6...is hard to get to the gear??
You havent mentioned what gearbox/diff you have, it may well be that you have the tallest speedo drive in there already, in which case there may not be a speedo gear to match your increase in tyre size.
Re whether there is an increase in size or not?:
Go to http://www.powerdog.com/tiresize.cgi to check you intended tyre size diameter against that of the standard wheel size for your car, if its LH_UC closest would be 185/75/13.

The tyres on it currently are 205/60R13...i don't know tyres that well so if i wanted to put a low profile tyre on a 14 inch rim what size would i be looking at?

What width rims do you intend running and what performance/look are you after. If 14 x6, a 205/60 would basically give you much the same look as the 205/60/13.The tyres on it currently are 205/60R13...i don't know tyres that well so if i wanted to put a low profile tyre on a 14 inch rim what size would i be looking at?

A 205/55/14 will have a similar rolling diameter to a 205/60/13.
