In my workshop/warehouse, I recently fitted LED tubes in place of the all of old 40W/4ft flouro tubes. They fitted straight in place using the old batten fittings.

My quarterly electricity bill has gone down from over $1200 to around $320. No more old flouro tubes for me. The electrical utility companies are 'raping' us, even though the carbon tax is now gone we are still being stiffed for renewable energy targets.

I would fit either LED batten fittings or LED high bays.

yeah agree Dr T. For a professional workshop situation they can well and truly pay for themselves....but in a domestic shed...
prob. not on long enough, to make the savings, to cover the capital outlay.?

Would be easy to work out I guess.

Theyve been using them for a while now particularly in commercial fridges.

Havent looked too closely at them yet but surprised that they are a direct fit for a fluoro tube.

had a look at them some time back...at the time, I think it was a requirement to rewire the fitting , minus the starters.
I reckon that's what you're thinking too?

p.s. prob fit straight into an electronic type fluro?

Wouldnt be much of a mod.

Looked at one today. They are still a bit more directional than a normal tube.

But usually in a commercial setting there are more than enough anyway
