Hi All,

Well here the tale of woe goes....

I bought this HK Kingswood about 3 years ago now, sight unseen over the internet.  Biggest mistake ever.  When the car arrived off the truck from South Oz to Brisbane I noticed several problems even before it got off the flatbed.

After being promised a car I could put the keys in and drive I ended up with a death trap.

SOME of the problems,,,,,

had been fitted with bucket seats with wooden seat risers.

oil leaks that bad the underside of the bonnet would be sprayed with oil by a drive around the block

all weather seals aged badly (was told everything was new)

rust in the front subframe

both rear floors rusted out, they had 2mm plate welded inside and black silicone filling the holes from underneath, a nice coat of full gloss black tried to hide it all!!

rust in the boot and inside of both rear quaters, I was told the car was rust free.

Drum brakes had ONE brake cylinder working.

every tie rood was rooted, this thing would change lanes for you!

rear shackle bushes were that bad the car would change direction mid corner as the weight changed and the suspension loaded up.

Clutch master cylinder was leaking,,,,the list goes on and on.

I was really disappointed in the car, I'm not rich and saved for 5 years to afford this car, I was shattered!!!

So I pushed the car into the shed and that's were it stayed, behind closed doors and out of sight.  It became storage for other car parts and household items, within the 3 years its been here it's so covered in crap you just cant even see it now....

Until today. I've gone down and pulled all the crap off her, gotten all the crap out of her and gave her a bath.  It's time I stop sulking and get my ass into gear and get her on the road.  It's not this cars fault it was sold by a lowlife rogue.  It's now my responsibility to get her where she should be, on the road !!!

occasionally drop back and see how I'm going, I have a plan, I've got the money and I'm going to have some fun !

(((the attached pic is from the sale add for the car, I've never taken a photo of the outside of this car,, ever))

Find a good used bench and bolt it in.

Rebuilding the frontend and brakes on these is relatively easy and cheap, same with the shackle bushes.

I wouldn't worry about the door rubbers yet.

You get used to the wind noise.

Tackle the rust one bit at a time.

It may be easier and cheaper to replace the subframe depending on how bad the legs are.

They can be had in good nick for a couple of hundred bucks, even less if you are patient.

Good luck with it, and keep us posted.

Go for it.

You can make a HK handle fairly well with some aftermarket suspension.

I've had 3 and would love another.

I like the colours of yours too.

Gee thats no good mate. Best not to buy sight unseen but oh well. Like u say get into it snd it will be s good thing. Unfortunatly the old hktg subframes have gone up in price. Expect to pay between $500-$1000 these days. Or you can just buy the repair sectons. Best thing is that they now make alot of bits for these which is awsum for us guys tryin to fix the dam things. For a couple of hundred bucks youl get a disc brske front end and off you go lol. Throw some new bushes in it and it will be a good thing. They are getting quiet valuable at the moment. Good luck cheers

The upper and lower control arm inner pivots for the HK will set you back a few $$$.

When will people ever learn??

Even with photos, people get ripped off.

Here's some pics from a guy who imported a Mustang.

These are just some of the pics, a lot of it was rusted right out.

At least you don't have structural damage, I hope you didn't pay too much for it.

Best of luck with the resto and don't buy again with at least someone inspecting it for you.

Here's another one for ya; don't fix the rear quarter, just weld a new one over the old one.

Looks like they will be breaking the law stamping the old number on that repo shocktower.

What a reckless disregard for beaurocracy!
