Hi All,
Was wondering if anyone can help me in regards to Fuel Pressure Gauges.
I have a 308 injected motor, and currently have a 15psi Fuel Gauge-Autometer Ultralite series,previously running carby,i have been told i need to replace it, but my mechanic is saying i need something in excess of 2 bars, when i converted the 2 bars i got 29. 087 PSI, Does that mean i need a 100psi Fuel Gauge or something higher.
If someone can redo the calculations and get back to me with what Fuel Pressure gauge is required. It would be greatly appreciated.
And if someone has one to suit, and they are interested in selling, post a reply because i may be interested in purchasing.

Hi mate, you will need a gauge that reads up to at least 350 kpa or 3 bar, and yes your calc is right 2 bar is only about 30 psi. The elec fuel pump with fuel regulator for the 5.0lt engine run a system pressure of 250-300 kpa i.e 27-34 psi. Hope this helps

Oh BTW I can get good VDO gauges at 35 psi or 100 psi (recommended) at a good mates rates price (for Torana website guys only!) if you are looking for one.... still need more

Thanks for that Guys,
So what can you do the VDO Gauge for, was really after Autometer as all my other ones are Autometer.
Cheapest i could find was $440, that was for the Electric type Autometer Ultra Lite, whats the difference between the Mechanical and the Electric, Does anyone know?

That price would have been a 'full sweep electric' which are really expensive.
A mechanical one should be approx $140-165.

Dont forget that a mechanical fuel pressure guage cannot be mopunted inside the cabin without the use of an isolator thats also available from autometer.
The difference between a mechanical and electric guage is that in a mechancial guage, the pressure of the liquid ( or temp or whatever) is actually present inside the guage itself and acts on teh mechanism itself where an electric guage has a sender unit, and the guage only reads the electric signal that the sender produces.
Each have their own pros and cons.
