Hey all,

Just picked myself up a new igintion barrel from Rare Spares and was curious as to how to go about removing the old one & putting in the new one.

My best guess would be to remove the steering wheel and then remove the shroud around it on the column??

Any helps or ideas would be much appriciated :D . Its also a column shift if that makes any difference.

Cheers,
Mick

I think there may be another thread on this already in the LC/LJ section but in short:

Remove the steering wheel
Remove the indicator mechanism and stalk (3 or 4 screws)
(For memory) Turn the ignition switch to accessories
Inline with the ignition barrel you should be able to see a small slot about the thickness of a 5c piece... Insert a pin tool or similar into the slot to depress the clip which holds the barrell in place.
Withdraw the barrell and replace with the rare spares one...

If the lock has never been replaced before, the slot may have 'flash' over it. My parts car was like that, but as Flamenco has said. :spoton:
