g'day people just a quick one,
what are people thoughts on this package.
found this pack on ebay....
http://cgi.ebay.com....1QQcmdZViewItem

how would this go with some 450hp flow hq heads and a decent sized solid cam??
or should i really hold off longer and invest in some more expensive vn style heads and have some work done to them???
cheers

this is not a standard configeration with 6 inch rods and it would be wise to do your homework ie with deck height/comp ratio etc before investment.

apart from rod length it looks good, pretty sure it should be a 5.7 rod.

^^^ specifically says it is a 6" rod.

"it may require some very minor clearencing to suit the "H" beam conrods" this little disclaimer suggests to me that some extra modifications will need to be done to make it all fit together and work, not just an assemble job.

Peace,

You would need to do a dummy up, and check the clearances.
Also bear in mind it will need to be balanced to suit the 6" rods.
Personally I'd rather get a kit with the 5.7" or the Holden rods.

I would rather use the std vn rods, keep it simple, tried & proven.

What is your budget & expectations?
What parts do you already have?

The 6" rod would improve the rod/stroke ratio and give less side loading on the pistons. The motor would rev a bit better and wear less, a definite plus for a race motor and probably nice to have on the street.
The only possible downside is the piston pin is higher and the ring pack is closer together. They are ACL pistons so design and quality should be right up there and I can't imagine this guy would sell a combo where the pistons sit 0.3" above the deck!!!
Harrop should be able to give you a good idea of what is involved in clearancing the block and balancing the crank assembly to suit the rods. H beam's should be lighter than stock anyway.
Give Harrop a call...
