Why dose my wiper motor only go in one direction, instead of going back and forward

Could you elaborate a bit? When it gets to the end of the sweep does the motor strain or just stop like there's no power getting to it?

they only rotate in one direction, the backwards and forwards movement, screen
sweep is produced by the bell crank setup attatched to the motor arm
