I was just trying to remember which one it is, can anybody tell me? Spreadbore comes to mind but i can't trust it these day's.

Also what's the difference in performance terms between the two?

Cheers
Steve

I seem to recall they are drilled for both. I used to swap between a 650dp spreadbore and a 780 vacuum secondary squarebore on my old 308 that was running an Edelbrock Torker...dont recall using an adaptor.

Thanks Howard, did you notice any difference with the size of the carbies?

yep they have both patterns drilled, for a mild setup the spread bores work well, if you step up the power say over 300hp @flywheel then thats where the square bore comes in to play.

Thanks 1QUICK LJ, i have been told to use a squarebore but a 600cfm, i thought it might be to small.

600 cfm works awesome on a worked 308. dont over carb it 600 is plenty for all but the tuffest of 308s.

Th 650 s/bore was a double pumper so while the small primaries gave great low rpm response the accompanying fuel economy was not one of its strongest attributes. The old 3310/ 780fcm was a nice carb, vacuum secondaries could be tuned via a spring change to give great performance while being more fuel miserly than the double pumper.
