i dont believe your breaking copyright if you post a picture online that you scanned... selling them or claiming them as your own would break copyright... im not lawyer though

We could just open another Club-dedicated Photobucket.com gallery. I think they can host 600 images up to 500kb each. Used to be 250kb, and if a magazine front page is resized and kept at medium quality, it will be less than 500kb and fully ledgible.

I don't really see how Copywright could be an issue. If you Admins and Mods don't want it then that's the final decision obviously, but it sounds like an alright suggestion IMO.

If Copywright is a definite problem then that's the end of the matter.

Legally, copyright would be a problem, regardless whether you were to make money out of them.

You wouldn't be able to publish any article, in any format, without the expressed permission from the author or the copyright owner of the article.

I belive antelope is correct.
If you read the disclaimer of most mateirals its not only about making money from them, it includes "transmitting via any means" the material.

It really sux, and it would be great to have an area for that kind of thing, but unfortunately i dont think its viable!

Cheers.

No matter how old the mag is, you need to get permission from the magazine. I had to go down this route with a few magazines in the past for our club newsletter. You must also put with the article something along the lines of "kindly reprinted with the permission of ......media PTY LTD".

No, copyright is like 50years after the person who made it dies i think, unless the copyright had been sold....

If you scan it and publish it, it is like you have reproduced it, even if you arent making money off it.... It would be like re printing the magazine and giving them away... i know it seems fine but it is illegal

And there are reasons behind it too. .just one i can think of relates to back issues.. Imagine someone re-making copies of AMC issue no 1? Your taking earnings away from AMC itself by them publishing them and selling the issues itself, not to mention affecting the collectibility of the genuine article.

Suffice it to say its not legal and therefor we cant do anything like that unfortuantely!

Cheers.

Alrighty then. It won't be feasible. There's no point in jeapordising this website's reputation so we'll leave it at that I think.

I was unaware that doing so would infringe the copywright. But that appears to be the general contention of this thread, so that'll do me.

if there is something you like and it's old, approach the printer and see what they say, explain exactly where you want to use it, you might do ok. Get something in writing if you can

check this link to the Australian Copyright Council, the information sheet relating to "literary works" is covered under Quotes and Extracts - Copyright Obligations sheet G034.
I can't reprint it here, cause i think i'll be in the pooh if i do!!
