I just paid big money for a kc alloy rocker cover for my 6cy and its hitting my guide plates. anyone else had this problem? it cant screw down as it must sit about 3mm left of all the studs
Should i grind the tappet cover or the corners guide plates? thats if it is the corners that are hitting and not the o rings.

anyone?

thanx!

try getting your money back first, if not run two rubber gaskets glued together if its only a height problem.

hmmm.. well i already cut at it to even get it in, it clashed with my thermostat housing, just a light hand grind. had to be done

cant see how its a height problem as it clashes even when its an inch high off the head. and was still 2-3mm off

i might have another look, i dont really have a problem with modifying the cover as long as it wont permanently desroy it.

cheers

Hey man, i would very highly suggest connecting your PCV Valve back up otherwise you'll find that the rear main seal will develop a leak due to high crankcase pressure... I had this problem with mine... The breathers just are not good enough...

Looks great! I had problems fitting mine too... I got a file out and hit the front (where it was hitting the the thermostat housing). I also had troubles at the rear where it was hitting the firewall on installation... But it still went on no worries!

Cheers

My pvc valve is hooked up isnt it? at the rear?

the front cap is a breather too :P might get a new pcv valve for the rear.

i had to cut up my gasket too:P all the wings had too go.
loads of grinding inside
and also grinded the front too

looks like the front head bolt isnt clearing either, no leaks so far a nice strong seal, nothing like the tin can covers.

hmmm.. which pvc valve are u talkign about?

At least you dont have to take off the stone tray, to undo the lh engine mount, to jack the engine up, to clear the heaterbox, to take of the rocker cover!!

Mine cleared all guide plates etc, but i had to grind out the rocker cover bolt holes to line up with the head.

damn... loads of effort to change a cover :<_<:

I bet it hit your guide plates and pushed it about 2mm to the left and thats why it wouldnt sit on perfectly :P was the same for me

after everything u have to do to change a rocker cover i wouldnt wanna grind for 2 hours either. :spoton:

nah didnt hit anything inside.. fitted on fine, just the bolts didnt line up, now that was a few hours grinding to get everything right!

lucky i worked in a car workshop, could do it all there, now i dont, and have to make do with no decent tools!

My mistake ToranaZ... I didnt see it hooked up there!!

I had the same prob with lining up to bolt on too. Although there was nothing i could be bothered doing about it, they all managed to go into their respective holes! No leaks and no twisted bolts... I ordered stainless bolts for mine (just for a change!!)!

This must be a KC Alloy company problem as i've heard almost a million people say they wouldnt line up right to bolt on to the head...

MMM... Has anyone let them know?

There hell rough for a 200$ rocker cover
dodgy paintjob, really rough grind along the top fins

But they definatly look awsome, and are worth it :spoton:

Easier to grumble about it here than tell the manufacturer :)

If there really is a fitment issue they probably would like to know so they can fix it
No company wants a rep for bad fitting products

You paid $200? VPW sell them for $129.

As for them not fitting, arent they sand cast? Meaning the more they make the worse the casts get? I think theyve been making them for quite a while now!
