Hi guys.ive just had my vehicle inspected for road worthiness and mentioned that my tyres were 30mm too wide at

the front each side and 10mm ea side on rear.i asked why is that so.....said that the track width is measured from the

centre of tire.so no more was said.

can someone explain to me if hes right as my thinking is say if i put a 205 tire on the centre of tire measurement

1378mm isnt going to change.and in fact it's the rim.sooo any cars running 13x7 rebels or hotwires is deemed

illegal .even with a 205 tire on.Huh?

Rebels and hotwires are 7 ". hence why most run these on racing cars. I currently have an issue with the 6.5 inch sprinty and the volvo caliper and need a spacer. My gtr has 5.5 and needs a spacer on the front as the tyres are 205 and " pull in at the wheel" .

So add another 12mm offset to a set of sprinties and A 205 and there's a lot hanging out near the guard.

Maz, if you change your mind on the rebels give me a holla - lol .

Yes track width is measured from centre of tyre to centre of tyre regardless of the width of the tyre

Your wheel offset is your issue not your tyre size

Maz - Im a building surveyor and when i inspect houses and other buildings  " there is always one thing that stops me from issuing an occupation certificate" - it's very rare that i can do a final and issue a cert.

It's like when i had to get two inspections of  the race car for log book;

  • one bloke had a good look and didn't pick up anything
  • the other bloke when straight for the seat belt tag- it must have been his thing - wouldn't pass it until i went and bought new belts and sat the belts on the front seat of the car - then he could say that the belts were in the car .* not fitted though "

change wheels back to stockies put your bowling whites on and hat and re try

had to ask about the wheels again - good luck  lol
