I have been a big proponent of your assessment of various oils and now use Pernrite Everyday 15W40 for the sole reason of lower viscosity at startup, I live in Melb
My crude assessment, excuse the pun, that thicker was not neccesarily better

I usually use Caltex Delo 400 15w40 (the plain stuff, not the LE) but any of the hundreds of 15w40s with a bit of zinc will be fine.
Hey johnno isn't that Diesel engine oil?
We ran that in the fleet when we were contracted to Caltex. Unless there are two types of Delo 400?

Nothing wrong with Delo 400, unless the engine has a fair few miles on it. 15W40 is pretty well on the mark for a normal streeter. Ill probably use Cat DEO 15W40 unless my mates in the oil lab/ tech dept tell me different just for the sheer conveiniece of having lots of it at hand, got zinc in it (most old Cat engines are flat tappet engines any way. Im in the process of creating a mild red 202 for old girl.
