Does putting a grub screw into your bearing retainer give you some of the aspects you want without spending up?
That may well slow you down but it would make a God-awful noise!

Welcome to modifying cars Heath, when you want to do it properly, it gets expensive.
You can blow $5k on a diff housing hubs and axles no centre without breaking a sweat for the quality stuff.
