Hey CHOPPER since your the man that seams to know exactly what his talkin about when it comes to wheels you could probly explain to me how the profile size works
Why is it that a 225x50x15 inch tyre is shorter in height then a 295x50x15 tyre?
Is the 50 a (%) of the tyre width or is it somthing else mate.
reason im askin is cos i wana get front tyres for the hatch and i want them to look even in height.
Thanks
John

Although im not CHOPPER John, your right, the 50 means 50% of the width of the Tyre
So a 295/50 wall would be 147.5mm and a 225/50 would be 112.5mm

The tyre size (as placed on the side of the tyre) is not always particularly helpful for what you have in mind, like overall height etc,and typically the numbers are rounded off a fair bit too.
There are a few online tyre size calculators that make it easy, ie type in 225/50/15 and it will tell all.

The aspect ratio is as indicated above. % of width.
Heres another one which does all measurements and revolutions per mile/klm
