Looks neat.

What size rubber bands on it?

195/40 & 205/40

Have been thinking of trying a 225/35 on the rear, but availability may be an issue.
Would also need a wider rim to get an idea of how it would fit.
Still lots of room on the rear.

They so look tiny lol.

Think nankangs come in those size...liked them on my ol' ss ute, grippy & reasonable price.

Could probably go even bigger..maybe grab cheapy throwouts off bumtree to trial fit.

Still need to exploit the limits of track change, rolling diameter, and tyre width to make it legal.
Just need some time to pull the tape measure out and run some numbers.

Got the centre cap to fit tonight.
Need to do some minor work to make them fit tight, but otherwise they look pretty good.

I should do an update I guess:
Turns out wheels are +48.
The front brake upgrade increased track by +4 each side.
Original wheel offset to maintain Track of 1316mm was +34

So far the only hoops I can find in 17" smaller than 6.5" are 4", basically space saver rims.
So at this stage I will be having the 17x6.5" wheel modified for the front.
These will be changed to be +38 (10mm more dish than current)

The rear are undecided at this stage. Thinking of changing offset and going to a 7" hoop.
I nearly have all the parts I need to upgrade the rear to commodore disk, including axels.
Axels have been changed to ford stud pattern.
Just need rotors, hoses, and some time.
Will be looking at rotating caliper to clear shocky.

Brake lines still need to be finished.
Will fit original centre caps and thinking of doing red walls as well.
Still need to finish modifying brake booster brace and consider check valve arrangement to clear the bottle.

One axle out. Quickly measured the backing plates and did a dummy fit with the commodore disk setup.
Caliper will probably be ok mounted to the rear as standard, just can't remove shock without removing axle.
Commodore backing plates are thicker, so I'm looking at having new axel retainers made.
Will probably run standard LC/LJ bearing and seal.
Already have some axels converted to ford stud pattern, just need to change the studs to 1/2"
Will be ordering some DBA016US blank commodore rotors, drilled to match axels.
Also ordered new handbrake cables already setup for the conversion.

Looks great with the centre caps. How much of an effort was it to get them to fit?

Believe it or not, I just fitted the wheel nuts and they fit.
They have about 1-2mm axial float at the moment which means they will rattle around.
The PCD is slightly different, but they can't come loose.

I have a few ideas how to make them tight, I'll keep you posted.

I never thought I'd ever like a 17inch wheel on an LC, but that looks awesome! Following with interest!

Good stuff. I will eventually be doing something similar but with Commodore rims. Im pretty sure I will have more issues getting the caps to fit so Im keen to see how it works out for you. Cheers.

You will probably have more issues because the stud pattern will be an even larger PCD than the original Torana.

If you are planning to use 17" commodore steelies without modification they will probably be 7"-8" wide I guess?
You could achieve the same result using f@rd steel wheels and run a smaller stud pattern like I have.

Hard to see in the photo, but another 6mm on PCD would probably not help you.
I realy need a flanged wheel nut to fully engage the cap.
I have some in M12 but Havent found anything in 1/2" yet.
Otherwise it's realy not bad, just needs something to lock it down.
I'm actually considering using a compression Spring behind it.

Cheers, yeah the larger PCD isnt going to help.
I'll be using commodore rims but only 15" or 16". Anyone know how the quality of the repro caps compares to the originals?

Not seen the repo caps in real life.
Commodore wheels use M12 studs, so you can get wheel nuts with a large flange easily.

Yeah the centre caps are nowhere even close to fitting neatly with commodore stud pattern...no simple solution to neat fitment when I tried vk steelies with lc gtr centre cap on mine BUT it did look good.

Started rebuilding the rear brakes
Have the new axel bearings now, so just need to make new retainer plates and have the axles modified and assembled.

Some progress. Custom vacume line elbow, inline check, and modified brace.
Not long now, axels, rear brakes, wheels, all on there way

Handbrake connected, full of fluid and first bleed done.
Needs a front to bake check over and another bleed, but all seems to be working without leaking.
Wheels installed and out of the garage for the first time in nearly a year.
