Either going to have to remark that vr dipstick & tube setup at correct oil levels.

Bolts to head just under engine number.

Who knows what level its at may be overfilling it causing the leak although I assumed vr dipstick would be way too long.Strange.

Or...go to trouble like most of us modding hq dipstick & tube to fit that has correct level.

Bolts up near middle muck around to fit due to pipe & sparkplug in the the way.

In the hatch I have had a Holden V8 with a high energy street pan and another with a similar looking unbranded pan. Both took 5 litres to fill to the lower ADD mark, including filling an empty Z160 filter. 6 litres to the top FULL mark.

If it is the rear main seal, don't try it in situ. You need to work the rope seal into the block housing properly to fit it correctly. I would be surprised if it is the sump gasket if you have already replaced it. Holden V8's are renound for leaking from the rear main and the new rope seals are crap as they have no asbetsos and don't seal like the older versions.

I am having the same problem with my 355 and trying to determine what is leeaking before I pull the engine out.

I'm pretty confident now that it's a sump
Leak due to the back of the crank being dry.
The problem is I'm replacing these sump gaskets while the motor is in the car and up side down all by my self.
This time I'm going to use an engine beam that allows me to rip the sub frame off while it's on the hoist and getting my mate to give me a hand.
