Those were the days, like the white overalls, might get some to wear around the house and shed.

Discovering exactly what happens to your cup of coffee when you have an accident at 35mph was pretty serious business back in the 70's.

The aftermath , wonder how the coffee held up?

that's a light collision,
depending on your personal restraints,
a seat belted person will walk away un-aided.

Human experience here,
I have been subjected to a telegraph pole as a passenger at 70 kph.
We were towing a racing car as well, which helped chopping the pole off at it's feet.
The aftermath was tools scattered all over Victoria road east of Parramatta,
and taking out the communities night lights.
Great pictures of the crash test's John, thanks.

OK guys.....
Heres a little secret.
It was late 60s ,early 70s.
Holden Melbourne.
Day before the Melbourne Cup.
In the days before it was a public holiday on cup day.
The GMH styling boss walks into the office and says ""I want to see the styling for the new 4cl. Torana!!"".
Styling guys say its not ready yet sir.
Styling boss says "" listen closely boys..Im only gunna say this once.....Its either done by 09:00 tomorrow, or you can kiss your Cup Day at the pub goodbye!!..get it done!! He storms out of the office.
Very early next day, the styling guys arrive at work and think, f!@#. We arent missing the cup, lets get this 4 cyl. thing done and quick!
So they get a 6cyl. LC in light green, slam it into the crash barrier until it was flat across the front, and say ""there,..... theres your 4cyl. model styling DONE!,
....now lets get down the pub!

What is the car is that is laying on its side? Should be pretty easy one to answer.

The LJ V8 Prototypes missed that wall by that much.
I always wondered why if the production was halted on the V8 LJ did they then need to slam them into a brick wall.
Surely they would have had enough data by then... Spose it threw alot of people off the scent.

It looks like a HK grille but it has a HT gearbox crossmember so my guess it is an early HT style car probably the grille hadn't been sorted as yet. I can't quite see if the HT in the background has HK wheels on it, and it almost definitely has the HT quarters (not just the tail-lights). Shame we can't see its grille.
You can see why the old HD-HG make good demo derby cars, that blue one would probably still drive but the poor little Torana probably not! I remember my blue HG wagon demo derby car's nose was about the same as that one, still drove fine just the view was a bit obstructed!

The car on it's side looks to me to be a LC Torana, by the grill and muffler.

Probably is an LC, my screen doesn't give me much more than metal grille and the black that indicates a wider gearbox crossmember than a HK hence my statement. Squinting closer I agree with Rodomo that the rear suspension appears to be coil and doh - the floors are all wrong for HT.

No need to Destroy them, when there was money to be made in selling them, they Sold the Lone o Ranger Prototype with the Huge Tank and Twin Fillers, so if any car should of been destroyed out of the three GTR's it should of been the Orange Car as it was the only one with a full working tank set up. The LH Program was nearly over so LJ side of things were well over, and there never was a official letter to say they were destroyed or a date to say, no one has a date, I wonder why.
