Good summary Ian. Your right, nothing new has been forthcoming in this thread and that's the real issue.

My xu1 has a 20F3 dual cast block in it. its JP 387... This is the one that James was asking about. It is interesting that his engine number is 36.. and mine 38.. and yet they are the same date code on the block. Not to sure how to explain that, maybe the dual casts were put aside until needed, I don;t know.

I have posted pictures previously in the other disappearing thread and can do if you really want. It does not prove anything as i believe it's agreed by all that there are engines out there with dual cast dates and engines without.

I think at the very least this thread should be moved to a members only area of the forum. Let's keep this crap out of sight of the casual visitor.

Nothing wrong with this single cast date 9/2e engine number.

On the other hand this dual cast date 9/2e number looks...... well...... I recommend the owner of this car carefully remove the paint off the number pad and check it carefully.

It is a double edge sword. Leave it and Google searches pickup that there is controversy. Remove it and the BS spreads without check.

I feel for XU1 owners too, and it is the reason why myself, Dave and others won't let the clowns try and change history. Sure it ends up looking bad but that is far better than blatantly false information being presented to the world as fact without check. I just wish this was all widely known as a BS agenda before Norm's book was published.
