Take a good look at your pivot points.
I had a similar issue due to extremely elongated pivot points welded them closed and redrilled. Solved the issue.

That's great thanks Bazza. Exactly the same as mine. I've moved the relay lever bracket back one hole, by putting an M8 bolt through the spare hole. Its fixed the problem but only temporary cause its not right. Could you please measure the push rod.

I think my pull rod is still in the car but on an earlier thread someone gave the length as 12 inches.

I found my pull rod and it measures 12 inches or 305 mm.
