Howdy all.
In my loosing battle trying to reinstall my 1/4 window frames I discovered that the Bailey channel rubber I had was too short to fit my doors so I purchased another 1 from Rares & it's different. It's too small, won't stay in the channel.
The larger ones I've got I've had for a couple of years.
I've emailed Rare Spares, just wondering if anyone else has seen this, or am I just the lucky one...

Thanks Mike. How long ago was that? Pity Rares didn't go back & find the rest that have been sent out to dealers...

Your fella might be right Mike. The small stuff falls out pretty easily. I don't see how I can use it without gluing it with something.

Yea. That's exactly what I was saying to a mate in the shed yesterday!
Somethings changed somewhere. Not sure if it's me or it's because every step you take forward you go back 2.
If some Cunning Stunt made me a sensible offer I'd flick it at the moment.

I've sent the shop where I bought it from an email & hopefully they'll check it out again. However their R&D department checked it out before, advised it to be correct & the small channel is correct.
#@$^%& if I know

So the Bailey channel has to be glued into the door. I wasn't aware of that, so it appears the small rubber is correct. Just need to glue it into position.

There you go.

Yes it should be glued in (contact cement is fine) however the bailey channel should hold itself in the door channels without glue.

Use black weather strip adhesive especially made for the job 3m does a good one but I am sure other brands are much the same.

Cheers Dave

I suggested that to the retailer, but it was Rare Spares telling him, so I guess it's how their product is.

The parts book shows 3 separate pieces, so I'm assuming we need to cut these to length? Which is what I had previously done, but now I've got a new set I'd like to make sure.

I also might give Betta a look too

Cheers.

Edit. I was also advised by them to use the Loctite glue that's supplied with the rubber kit to glue the Bailey channel into the door

Sorry, more questions. Well all be glad when I've finished these frOckin doors!

So the Bailey channel Rares supply isn't long enough to go the full length of the window runners. Is this a problem?
The runners seemed to be crimped in slightly at the ends, I assume to help hold the channel in, but the channel isn't long enough when you cut it up into 3 pieces - top, front & rear.
#@$^%& if I know. Buy yet another one so we have enough I suppose

Will each vertical piece end up about an inch short?

Probably more than that I reckon, Dave. I haven't had real close look yet, just noticed it'll be short.
