I think Craig Lowndes Greatest victory is in 2006 at Bathurst, the first person to win the Peter Brock Trophy - even though it was in a f0rd Brocky was looking down at his protege that day and guided him to the checkered flag & did so for the next two years.
The only main driver besides Brocky to have a three peat at Bathurst is Lowndes....... He still is the Masters Apprentice

Good pit strategy.
Inspiring drive.
But I really think he is the only driver in the same class as Brocky. As a total package.
He runs on the same philosophy that it is the fans that make him popular. And he has time for the fans as Brocky did.
So many of the drivers of Brockys era had a very inflated belief of their own worth.
Operating a tow truck at Oran Park for a few years gave me an insight into a lot of the personalities.

The first 4 cars over the line were from the Triple 8 garage. OK, the Will Davison STIX car is an "independent" team, but it was still built by Triple 8 & he also shares a pit garage with Lowndesy.
Has that ever been done in the history of the ATCC ?
BTW, if you take the first 3 Armstrong 500s into account, which you should in the history of the Bathurst race, Harry Firth also has a "threepeat" & Bob Jane is the only driver to ever win 4 in a row.

And then there's this: http://www.v8superca...n-adelaide-500/
Just seeing the pics of his 1999 car just brought back a flood of memories. I was there that day and it was one hell of a drive. I had totally forgot about that day until now.
CL is looking on it this season. Hope he is in the race for the title later in the season. It'd be great to see him go on track next year with a 1 on the car.

I believe that if he didn't have that tyre explosion in the NZ race last year, he could've won the championship for 2015.
Also, I reckon that Lowndes' drive last Saturday was as good as his 1999 Adelaide win.
