Max tyre size for under stock sedan

I am looking to stuff some more rubber under the rear of my flareless sedan. Can anyone tell me if they have had 235/60/15's under there and how well they fit - whether they scrub or bang on the body etc. Currently I have just standard 6cyl springs and shocks but will be upgrading to 50/50 shocks soon so imagine it will give me a bit more room because of less travel in suspension. Not sure of the offset I'm running, the rims are Weld Pro Stars and they come with either a 3 something or 5 something offset, don't know what the old owner put on.
So yeah, was just wondering if anyone had run 235 successfully or should I stick with the 225.
Cheers,
Liam.

It had been a long day, and was a tad tired. So thanks for pulling me up on that.

Later though I thought "is that standard when the car was new at the factory, or standard after 28 years of sagging?"

Will try a 245 or 255 in 17" instead.

My mate did the same thing, but still persisted to take passangers. The tyre caught on fire as he was driving down the street. So he stopped taking passangers but kept driving on it. Eventually the sidewall blew outI had 235's under my sedan and every bump they scraped, and definately no back passengers. The 225's are a bit better, but still no back passengers.
Hope this helps. My cars lowered 1.5 inches.
