G'day all,
I have a 202 red engine in a machine shop at the moment getting all the treatment, blue crank & rods balanced etc...The builder wants to do an offset stroking of the crank. He explained that the big end journal is machined to effectively give it a offset and hence slight stroke.
Is he pulling my leg or is it feasible?
Cheers ~ Peter

He isn't pulling your leg..he just has to make sure he uses the right pistons or makes sure of the clearances..they pull the piston further down the bore and push up higher... my current engine has 10 thou protrusion.

Thanks for the reply, he mentioned something about machining the tops of the pistons

I've got an offset stroked 308. They rev really well because they have to cut bits of the crank to balance it which lightens it.

Interesting fact..In the old days of Production Racing on bikes in the Kawasaki 900 days..we used to off set bores1 & 4 to the back, 2 & 3 to the front..The pistons ran less resistance and the bike revved quicker..just for some useless information.
