Getting closer to the pointy end of this windy storm.

Stay safe people! Your life is more important than a shiny bauble!

The floods are part and parcel of the cyclone. So it goes, cyclone/flood/fire/greedy insurance companies/bankruptcy.

I love a sunburnt country.

A land of sweeping planes.

One half drowning in a flood the other half in flames.

So from media reports, Townsville to Mackay should be totally flattened and under an 8m tidal surge of water?

Is this the case?

I can see next years insurance premium skyrocketing again.

How'd ya's go. Any 8m tidal surge as the media predicted? 1 in a 100 year event to apparently. So that means no more cyclones for the next 99 years.

No power Id imagine? And with the awesome NBN that will mean no home phone as well, and with Cell towers down, no mobile service. What a step backwards.... No form of comms....

The trouble with Deb is that she came on slow towards the coast , she was , (if BOM & US naval pics. are correct) is that she was about

the size and intensity of Larry , the difference being that being so slow to cross the coast is that the roar in  the sky lasts many more

hours which means more persistent winds for a longer period which means more destruction , not the best thing to go through , Larry was pretty well over by lunch time , remember it well , even went for a walk up the road while the eye crossed , no phone or power for 2 weeks , nearly starved to death.

I remember the morning of Larry, drove to work. Was the only car on the road. Got to work and no one was there, said stuff it, drove back home and went back to bed.

Geez Im glad I live in Farrrrrr North Qld. So much less extreme weather up here! Just wish the insurance companies would see it that way...... Not doubt Insurance is set to skyrocket again....

Im not sure what is going to do more damage to Qld, a Cyclone or the Media.

Didn't think the Whitsundays were considered North Qld.

I know for a fact that southerners have started cancelling or have tried to cancel holidays/conferences/events up here thanks to the over dramatisation of the Media and where this system struck the coast and what regions were effected.

I think he has no power.

I recall Innisfail had no power for about 6 weeks after Larry. Generators and a few jerry cans full of fuel are always handy to have in the shed. Along with a wheelie bin full of water prior to the event.

What has surprised me is why tourists remained on Hamilton/Daydream Island etc. The should have left the island as it was always going to be an issue getting off if jetties etc were damaged which they were.

Dunk Island Resort was heavily damaged during Larry in 2005, which was rebuilt to then be again heavily damaged during Yasi. Its since been abandoned and is quietly being reclaimed by nature. But the guests all left prior to the crossing of both systems.

Still here Rob.

That was one big rush!

Watching the neighbours palm trees turn into starfish with wet nutz! Gusts were easy 180+.

Power just just been restored to us. Many others are still without.

Sleep patterns are all up the shit. Couple of days before things return to normal.

Debbie done us well. She's the bast i've had. :) miss ya' darlin'! lol
