Very nice, good to see it out racking up the km's. Pretty cool pic with the original dealer.

Thanks Danny,

I wasn't too sure about putting all those Ks on her but at least everything ran well. Only four stone chips in total, three on front bumper and one on the spoiler so I reckon that's not too bad considering I was on country roads overtaking trucks and tractors in some places.

I did collect a lot of bugs too ;)

Cheers,

Liz :)

I don't like that term - 'stone chips'.  Much better to call them trophies gained as a reward for your travels......

Driven not hidden!!!

That is certainly a catchy catch-phrase, and I acknowledge the sentiment behind it, but anyone who has ever spent countless insufferable mind-numbing never-ending hours rubbing-back panels (and the skin off their fingertips) will tell you that every single stone chip feels like getting stabbed in the arm with a blunt fork!

I applaud those that do drive them, but I would never criticise anyone that doesn't.

Yeah it does sound good doesn't it but I certainly was quite worried about the potential damage to the paintwork that the resto guy put so much effort into doing for me. I'm just really glad the nose cone was damage free :)

The hatch wasn't my first choice of car for that trip but the LJ is still off the road so I had to take the SS and I'll get the few chips touched-up next time I'm at the workshop.

Cheers,

Liz :)

Im just glad then that I am old enough to have actually driven these cars daily and at time is anger.

I too see it as pointless to have a car and not enjoy it.

A bit like not having sex with your girlfriend to keep her nice for the next boyfriend.

Or you can have the best of both worlds with one to hide away and the other to drive LOL...That is for the rich ones only though :-)

Good to see you enjoying your car Liz.  As nice as car as mine was, I always got in it and drove it.

Thanks Chris,

I just had a catch-up read of your build thread, some really flash gear you have in your car. So much work to get it all fitting correctly, you must have lots of patience.

It would be great to see it in the flesh one day, maybe Toranafest 2019 :)

Cheers,

Liz :)

Ah to be honest at times, I feel as if I could have made it a much simpler build if I stuck with the basics. It is a headache getting a bunch of miss matched parts to work well together, but the guys on this forum are so helpful! so hopefully all worth it in the end!  :spoton: I'd love to have her ready for Toranafest 2019~

Liz driving the wheels off any car is imo the only reason to own a car. It's totally pointless to own a car and put it in a glass case. You may as well buy a painting or artwork.

Driving hard in a high performance car has always been my most amazing life joy.

or paddock bashing a Toyota Camry, or climbing sand dunes in a four wheel drive, or or performing burnouts in front of a big crowd, or motorkhana's in a Mini or cruising the CBD.................  Man I love cars!!!

Speaking of Camry's, about 15-20yrs ago we took a mates Camry up to Cooktown for the Discovery Long Weekend. Used to 8,000RPM that thing.

Agree however I have never understood the burnout thing. Seems totally pointless and its the one thing that the media and police believe represents all performance car owners. Its the old remove brain and see who is the biggest bogan with the smallest pecker.

My thing is track lap times, passing, and corners so maximising my tyre life (not purposely destroying them) is my thing.

Imho even as a teenager i have always found that burnouts are totally cringe worthy and simply doesn't represent my love or passion of high performance driving.

We will just have to agree to disagree Cameron. Back in the day I was more redneck than the Duke boys, although I always did it out of town or on a track.

Thats ok Laurie I am the first one to pull out a camera or my dash cam footage to dob in a hoon. I have seen far too many idiots on the road over nearly 50yrs of driving and i have lost some of my best mates due to people doing idiot (brain dead) stuff on the road. I might drive very fast powerful cars but never above the limits of the road rules.

On the track is a different story.

It’s all okay, I’ve enjoyed the catch up read after a long day on the road.

Went to Bathurst to have a quick look at another Torana, not buying it though..

I did go for a look around the Motor Racing Museum so all was not lost.

Oops! Just hi jacked my own thread ;)

Cheers,

Liz :)

Cameon are you a Cop? LOL. give young blokes a go a burnout on a deserted back road or industrial estate probably has not killed many. Cheers Aaron.
