make sure that you have all the same springs, there is different lenghts and thickness of the spring, but thickness is not really an issue but the compressive strength is.
Its the compressive strength that either " restricts or enhances " the needle rise based on vacumm created in the dash pot
A wise man once told me " its the opposite of what you THINK YOU need to do ", Wayne 2lcs
IF you need more fuel slow the rise of the needle in the dash pot, with a thinner needle - so it's the opposite as you need the mixuture right - air VS fuel
AT WOT who gives a F@#$#@K , but for a streeter then keep the spring on the harder side and the needle a bit thinner as this will keep it a bit richer 6 j is i think what you need.
get an air fuel meter is also a lot easier - and put a bung in the exhaust
James JD LJ will also account that with Webbers you get this awesome spray of fuel form the pump circut , The old 9 port with a larger cam does not have a lot of vacume in the manifold and given that the port is sharing , there is a bit of " back and forth " in this area which contains a larger volume of Air / fuel mixture
some would say that the port volume on the siamese 9 port has enough volum to service each valve , but it's the " either side of the valve " that is important from a flow perspective.
this spray of fuel is not there with either the SU or the CD . AND hence a cough is generally present with a streeter when you stand on the gas and expect the motor to have the appropiate AF mixture, Lifes not perfect with SU's or CD's and even webbers so get use to it.
In summary you just need to make sure;
that your not asking too much of the carbies and that you head has enough flow to allow mixture to be efficient
remember - you only have a split second the get this very complex shit happening - err on the side of caution with this as a a motor does not really like a TOO fat Air fuel mixuture
It likes a lean mixture better - hence keep the spring in the CD's on the hight side and the needles 6 j if you have a hotty cam and a good head.
choose your pain and live with it, welcome to old school tunning LOL
remember;
getting the milk each weekend and running flat 12 passess as eastern creek is a world apart - I feel a migraine comming on

Hi Graham,
Not sure if you found what you need but google Burlen. They have all the parts for the CD's, great to deal with and very help full. They are in the U.K but prices are not too bad considering exchange rate and all. they also carry the full kits that include spindles ( throttle shafts ) and the seals.
Have you managed to find any data on what you have and what you need.
Cheers, Geoff
