Well I have been pissing and moaning for some time now about getting out of Torana's altogether. Well today after 30 years of owning them the SLR drove out of my driveway on a car trailer never to be seen again. The SLR was by far the best Torana I have ever owned (11 in total) and a credit to the Previous owner (Matty) who predominantly built the car.  I just refined it and sorted out the bugs. And build a bloody good 11 second 355 for it :-)

 

Only 3 weeks a go i sold an SS hatch that landed in my lap. I bought it not knowing what I would do with it but it was too good a car to pass up. So I went on holidays to Thailand, relaxed a hell of a lot and pondered what to do with both cars. I made up my mind it was time to move on to something different so decide that both Torana's must go.

 

So now to the next chapter in my life.  I bought a VP Berlina, factory 5.0L, 5spd with the rare options of ABS, IRS and an LSD. It is very original in every way bar having a 520hp Pavtech 355 in it.  So that is my new play toy.  Part two of the venture will be picked up next weekend all going well.  A VZ CV8 Monaro that has been tastefully modified to my likings.

 

I guess the market is still really strong for good cars as both sold easily and for good dollars. Everyone is saying I will regret it but I am pretty at ease with my decision and have no regrets. Time for something different and no going back. Will still be a pest on here though but won't be around the events much anymore like Toranfest etc.

 

Anyway, happy - sad days :-) :-(

No Commodore forums for me.  This is the only forum I am a member of and frequent. I  tried the HSV one many years ago but they were all a bunch of elitest tossers....Will still be on here but probably not as much.

 

As for Toranafest Geno, I am over it too. Think I ran too much of a muck this time round.  Time to pull my head in :-)

 

I will be selling all my Torry parts in the next few week too. Need to clean the shed out. Still have my big 355 so god knows what I will end up doing with that......Maybe chuck it into a UC one day......LOL

I hear you mate, and good choice of cars. What model did you get? I am picking up a 2005 VZ CV8 in mint condition on Sunday with only 35k on the clock. I also bought VP Berlina as my beasty car :-)...500hp that starts and idles first go, has working A/C, pwr steering, ABS etc etc,,,, Which hatch was yours? Not the rusty royal plumb one?

Wrong mate. The VP was much better than the VN offering Holdens first IRS car, ABS, an the luxury of A/C :-). The prices on these things are creeping up now and sales of SS and HSV models have been up towards of 30k. They have hit the 25 year old mark now and starting to be sought after. But having a tidy one with big hp makes for fun driving.

 

I have gathered all my Torana stuff to get rid of now. Really time to move on......Oh and I am driving to Newy tomorrow to pick up my CV8Z :-)
