With all the panel work complete and the wedding closing in quickly I need to choose a colour red for the hatch.

I'm pretty up with what's available or looks good but I'd really appreciate it if people could post up or email/pm me photos of their red toranas so I can get an idea of what it actually looks like on the car. Even links to your photobuckets/webpages would be great. Things like blackouts and GTR offset stripes are also being tossed up.

I have been using photoshop but I don't think you get a true representation.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Jim

My favourite red on a Torana would have to be this LH (info and photo from CarDomain), painted in "Sting Red" (2k). Haven't seen it in the flesh but that colour looks really nice in the photos I reckon.

The new Mazda RX8 red isn't too bad. It looks slightly metallic/pearly. Unsure if you're interested in metallics and things or just a flat colour?

personally i wouldnt paint a torana red, unless it was originally red and you are going original.

but,
I really like the red off the Mazda 3's and Holdens sting red

yeah the Holden 'Sting Red' or 'Red Hot' are both good, my LJ is painted one of them, not sure if they are technically the same colour just with different names though - will have to ask my mate whose a spraypainter at Suttons Holden Arncliffe.

You're right. Sting red is what HSV call Holden's Red hot. It is looking like this is going to be the winner. I'm thinking this colour as a start and then making it deeper, or more cherry like as LH SL/R 5000 suggested.

Does anyone know it the new HSV's (VE) red colour is different again. A job for a spray painter.

Makka, why not red? It's garaged or out of the sun all day so I'm not worried about fade. It is more work maintenance wise but it's a price I'm prepared to pay (and have been paying)

The mazda range is quite good. I think Matt's hatch (Toranamat69) is that Mazda 3/6 red everyone is talking about.

Too many choices.

Cheers
Jim

I just wouldnt do it because so many toranas are red, i would prefer something else. Matts car is classic red, its off an older mazda.

Mines called 'Classic Red' and it was just listed as a Mazda 1989 colour. I just picked it out of the books.

I parked next to an Astina once and it was definately the same colour but the only one I have ever seen in the flesh.

Im in the same boat with my hatch. I do like the red on them but I would rather go with a something a little more unique/different. I also like yellow.
What do you guys think is better i know its personal preferance, a flat colour or a metallic one???

Any photos of flat red and yellows or metallic red and yellows would be awesome.

Thanks Ryan

I would stick with an original red for the car if it was me...easier to sell if..God forbid you have to in the future...but Sting Red is just a ball tearer colour on the HSV GTS VY..
