G'day Lakeside

Well it's been a very long time since I have had my steering wheel off my LC GTR but I can remember that the shaft size is smaller than the LJ.

At a rough guestamate it seems to be about 5/8 inches with a fine thread.

If and when you take it off, put some Loctite anti-sieze on the spline before replacing the steering wheel and don't over tighten that nut.

When I first got my car 3.5 years ago, it didn't have a GTR steering wheel and it didn't have a steering wheel nut holding on the standard wheel.

It took me ages to find the right size nut and finally found one at a wreckers.

Regards .............. Barry

Just checked my spare UC column.

Its 9/16 with 18TPI, (9/16 UNF).

I also thought all early Holden column's were the same? had the same nut?

I have an old EH steering shaft in the shed, i'll check it for any difference.

Looks like i'm wrong!

The EH column is 1/2" UNF, so i spose the LC is probably this size too.

It's a 3/4" nut to clamp the steering wheel down but the thread on the shaft looks like it's 1/2" coarse thread.HTH.

Ok,just thought it looked like a coarse thread, doesn't matter really b/c nut & bolt place never have the correct bolts/nuts/threads with these old cars anyway.Usually have to go to the wreckers.
