What noises should I expect from slotted brakes with semi-metallic pads. The calipers are mounted to the rear of the car (front brakes) on a UC torana, 290mm hoppers kit.

I'm experiencing a grinding noise when the car is moving, as the slot rubs over the pad. Is this normal and will it fade away as the breaks wear in? Can I expect any other noises similar to the sound of tyres with worn out tread (the woosing wind sort of noise)?

Also whats the best way to wear in breaks? Soft braking over 500kays, or otherwise?

cheers

if you bought the kit from hoppers, best you give them a call first.
but usually to bed in brakes is firstly drive to 60km p/h then brake sharply to about 15km p/h and repeat every 50 to 100m about 5 times then go easy for the first 100-500km.

thanks for that ALX76

Does anyone have any comments on the brake noises? It hasn't gone away yet. Also when I've done some heavy breaking I get a clunking noise when the car comes to a complete stop. Sounds sort of like an engine mount but they are fairly new and secured down, could it be the gearbox?
