Hi all.  Just wondering if anyone has any tips on fitting these sliders.  I have done one side and given there isn't a lot of material on the back side, I'm not sure if just peening them will last the journey.  The last thing I want would be to fit it all up and have to strip the door down to get at it later.  I was thinking of carefully putting a weld tack on the back to help but open to suggestions. Cheers Ron

I spoke to someone at Resto Country Spares (my local distributor of Rares products) and he certainly had nothing useful to contribute.

"Oh, they should just be a tight fit... you shouldn't need to weld them or peen them"

Hahahaha. What??? How?

I was going to have a go at some in the coming weeks, and was certainly planning on fusing the back of them with the TIG welder.

If you're going to try and peen them, support the ball area well and give it a nice big centre punch in the middle. That may well be sufficient, but as I've got a welder, I see no reason to take chances on it.

Thanks Heath. The ball end to the plastic slide is tight enough but certainly not the end that's fitted to the slider arm. I remember I butchered one when I did the first arm some time ago and that's why I hadn't got around to doing the other.  I've decided I'm going to weld a small nut or washer on the back of mine.  I can't see where there would be any interference doing that.  Cheers Ron

Finished product.  Not pretty but for an amateur with a gasless welder I'm happy, and they will stay on and nobody will see them.  Cheers Ron

Good stuff. You'll probably never need to look at them again.

Thanks. Let's hope not. Cheers Ron
