Must be about a Nov 75? Best bet is to contact Holden for the selling dealer. If no help there, contact HHS. Right To Information request may bring up original rego number.

I've got the owner to join the fourm now and once he is passed by admin to post I'm sure he will be on here to say thank you and probably start a build thread for his new toy and ask more questions.

As Brad says, pretty sure HHS has the dealers.

Holden doesn’t know how to read their old info, don’t bother with them!

Very unusual. Normally they stuff it up. The BETSBAC codes have hidden meanings in them on some vehicles, and Holden normally get it wrong. Like they will tell you your HJ Sandman van optioned with 4.2L V8 was originally fitted with an M22 4spd and front drums as that is what the BETSBAC says to the uneducated.

Plus they do not know their dealer codes.

Yes, no matter how hard I tried to convince Holden's latest guy that he'd incorrectly copied my L34 info onto my SL/R5000 letter he wouldn't change it.

Now I have two L34's.

Yes, records are same format as the LC-LJ Service/Warranty report most have seen. Maybe 60% give or take of cars have an engine number recorded, of which a % have errors in the number recorded, somewhere in the region of 5-10%

I believe the engine number wasn't recorded if the car never went back to a dealer for servicing??

I wonder why Holden had all the info for me? I just got the HHS certificate as it looked nicer than the plain jane Holden letter.

It was meant to happen when the dealer returned the delivery paperwork. Often didn’t happen. This was the first opportunity for error, either with the reading of the engine number or the transcribing of it. Then at the zone office, reading the handwriting and entering it into the mainframe terminal are two more opportunities for error. Another was typing the correct PSN into the terminal to then complete the engine number field, I have seen plenty of engine numbers entered against the wrong PSN, eg J123456 rather than H123456.
