One of my mates have been blabbering on about needing to wear in a brand new LSD.. and a method is to do figure eights. Is there any truth behind this?

I just got my 9 inch LSD back from the diff doctor.
His recommendations are to run Castrol LSX 85W/140 for 800kms, travelling at no more than 80kph, drop the oil, refill with same oil type, then drive as per normal.

it always amazes me how all these running in procedures come out for old reconditioned cars and bits and vary greatly to a brand new car....

Run in procedure for for a new or reco LSD
1. Start engine
2. Place car in gear
