As the title suggests, what is the top $$$ that you know of paid for one of these cars?

I was just thinking today that I cannot recall any threads on this subject although there probably is one lurking around from years gone by.

We get to see the prices attained at Auctions and the like but there are lots of these cars that are changing hands quietly in the background.

No names or vehicle identifiers, just what model it is and how much.

Bought mine privately 3 years ago next month and I paid $75k. What people pay seems to be a secret these days. I think this thread will stifle as no-one wants to admit what they paid for some reason.

Also condition & originality (correct JP, head, etc) comes into play. So many variables.

Not wanting it to be that technical Tony.

Just simply what model it was and how much.

I can't comment on the LC / LJ's, but there have been big sums paid for L34's and A9X's. Much more than you see in the auction results.  Buyers seem to be of a certain ethnic persuasion from Sydney and Melbourne.

And there would be a fair to certain chance that they are being used to launder money from other sources.

Ive spent a good part of my life earning big bucks from mining.

But due to other things happening, have often only worked 6 months, or as current, not worked for more than 3 years.

A good number of my friends have worked continuously in mining.

Not many of them are able to afford a nice house and expensive toys like some ethnic mobs seem to do.

And at the same time some of these people dont actually seem to have a full time job.

Unless they work nights, and get by with zero sleep.

My observations may be wrong.

But I think something fishy happens.

Cheers

Rob

700k WTF it just looks like a full rotisserie resto? I'd believe it if it were all factory original with 5000miles on the clock.

Most of the money from Sydney and Melbourne now comes from the property market. Their immigrant fathers invested rather than pissing all their money up against the wall, or wasting it on trips to Bali and pointless tattoos. The older 'wogs' have always looked down on your average Aussie for their lack of financial sense,. Now is the time many 40 - 60 year olds are receiving inheritances.

Done a close up of the heads and looks like number on it has been machined or ground off? What’s so special about this one ? Does it have race history ? Also blackouts not quite right. For that money it would want to be almost off the line. I do know of a 73 Bathurst that sold in house for 220k many years ago. Not trying to put this car down. Just wanting to know why this one is worth so much. Thanks

Hi Dave,

This site is often worth a browse but I noticed they have purged most of the "SOLD" advertisements.  Used to be a lot more cars listed that sold in the past.  This XU1 is listed as SOLD and was listed at $155

The chrome thermostat housing and carb tops just look so wrong.
