The plot thickens...

what was the original colour and trim?

if this is a seventies car shouldn’t it have another plate on the firewall?

I though the law changed in 1970 and the ADR was on an additional plate?

Pics of the upper dash panel in front of the wiper motor where the Compliance Plate should be affixed and the wheelhouse panel where your chassis number should be.

Again, thank you so much.

I don’t have photos of those as yet but I will try to get them ASAP .

The car looks ok to me but it’s been bastardised so much it’s hard to really tell.

I just can’t work out why someone would completely paint a car silver, change the motor and put an auto transmission in it and change the interior so much in an GTR.
The instruments seem right as does the steering wheel

Good morning Dave.

I actually don’t own this one.

I have been offered to buy it.

I know the guy and he is sure it’s genuine but I am not 100% that’s why I’m asking so many questions.

The tags look right to me and seem to be factory fitted but I’m still unsure due to the cars modifications

This car is an early 1970 build so, if there is no Compliance Plate and no chassis number then there is a good reason for that.

Best plan of action would probably be to simply walk away.

Sound advice.

I have requested both for identification and if they can’t be provided I will walk away.

My general understanding is from1970 onwards needs vin number & to tags match otherwise something is amiss.

Yes that is what seems to be common consensus.

Thanks

If there is no compliance plate affixed to the vehicle there should at least be two holes for the tag rivets.

Ask for a pic showing where the compliance plate should be.

Still waiting for the comp plate...

I do start to think we have a real, albeit butchered GTR..... So long as those stamps match up from the last photo

I suspect this car may have been sold into a market that does not require a compliance plate be fitted.

If the car is not too far away from you I think it would be worth going and having a look at it or finding someone you can trust to look at it for you.

So is it 1969 shell with 1970 tags from another car? NZ import?

Not sure if meant to have a letter or another number at end of inner guard chassis number.

Definitely been messed around with that would need inspected properly in person.

I may have found out why it has no adr tag.

The car was in fact an export car.
