Hey Guys

Does anyone know what L34’s would have had in the way of chrome trim?

We’re there options for this (like blacked out trim, no trim in spots, etc) or was it the one setup if that makes sense?

Just trying to piece together all the trims I need.

Thanks

Sorry about the typos in some of these posts. Bloody joys of predictive messages when doing them from phone. 😆

Its stainless.

Same as an SL and SL/R 3300, SL/R 4.2 & SL/R 5000

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think an L34 is just an LH SL/R base, with flares added, and round headlights.

An LH SL and LH SL/R have exactly the same brightwork (except for the SL having anodised aluminium trims around the tail lights). So the common bits are:

- Edge trims around the side glass in stainless, die cast corners

- Stainless trim clipped over the gutters, and stainless extensions screwed on behind the rear door frame (that bit is the same as LX S as well)

I hope I haven't missed anything there.

The only bit I know I don't know is what models came with the 2-piece stainless 'smile' under the front bumper/grill. (I'm thinking that might be everything with a silver grill, so LH SL or LX SL?)

At least the second time around on Ebay, but this is the stainless window trim

That’s right they are stainless aye. Just in the habit of calling them chrome.

$1500 on eBay. Holy crap? Are they actually worth that or is he dreaming?

Mine also has the 2 piece trim under the grill, so must be on SL’s too.

I’ve got all those trims on my base car already. And they are in mint condition.

Is there no trim around the tail lights?

What do you guys make of the trim on this one.

http://autopartsande...34-for-auction/

Doesn't appear to have the trim around the windows or the "smile".

Do you recon special order or modified? I can't see on my phone if the window trims have been blacked out or are missing altogether.

Looks nice an clean to me though. I quite like the look.

No trim around the tail lights. Thats an SL thing.

^ Prob had the trims removed during a resto. If you have them already then thats easy.

Spot on Heath. The bottom of windows is attached to the window weather seal. I bought a set from Rares

The smile was standard equipment on L34.

Interest, you don't see the smile very often on L34's. I wonder why they would have been turfed.

I’ve got all those trims on my base car already. And they are in mint condition.

Yeah, they are gold mate. LH stainless is the sexiest brightwork they did on Toranas. I wouldn't be getting rid of it.

You’d probably hate me for asking this Heath, but does that LH brightwork fetch good money, in mint condition.

I haven’t 100% decided yet, but I’m leaning towards the blacked out look without the trims. If I go this way may as well raise a few funds selling the bits I don’t need.

I saw the eBay link where someone was asking $1500 for the door set. Is that about right if I were to sell.

Depends who's buying

I gave away the trims on my LH

I only had them on the front doors

10 yrs later I bought a set off a forum member... I think they were $200

$1500 for a damaged set (his ad says 5 pieces need repair)  is stupid... but some idiot will likely buy them eventually

Not this little idiot though

My SS doesn't have its trims... and they seem to go for big bucks...I paid $100 for my set off a forum member

Can’t dwell on the past tho aye dattoman. I took 3 Torana’s to the tip 20 years ago. Thought they were stuffed and you literally couldn’t give them away.

Now I see worse ones over here selling for 5k plus on trade me. Wish I still had them tho. Would have had some bits on them I’d now like. Hindsight aye.

I bought 2 sets of window trim & made 1 good set from the 2.

I sold off the spare set with new door belt rubbers for $450.

I wasn't going to refit the trim kit, ...... but ....... it's a LH & i want to celebrate the LH. Last of the Aussie cars before the beancounters stepped in & started lightening them to get better economy with aluminium trims & plastic tail lamp buckets etc.

As for the hatchback side trims , i still don't understand why people want to turn their A9X replicas into Sunbirds?

I am looking for a good set if you decide to sell Steve. I can even part trade for a mint LX set if you go that way. I also need a black coin pocket (lower dash) if you know of any.

I’m in NZ, Shiney.

I’m assuming you’re OZ based.

I already have the full LX set too. 😀
