I have a general question regarding sourcing parts in general for my LX four door.

Rare Spares have a heap of parts and it's tempting to just go straight to them for the convenience of not having to source original parts.

Is it really worth the hassle of sourcing original parts where possible? Are the original parts off donor cars generally of better quality?

Personally, not really. The build quality in the era was shit. But fit. Build quality now is great but often doesn’t fit.

I'm just looking to end up with a good cruiser. I'd also like it to keep it's value, especially as I put more money into it.

It got me thinking if it would be worth less because it's full of aftermarket parts - but then who could tell?

If it's going to devalue the car (SLR Replica) I'd spend the extra time and effort on buying original parts for it.

Its only a replica people aren’t worried about originality in them

problem is good original parts are expensive some times Rare Spares is the cheaper options on certain items

The problem is that after a while you get tired of buying reproduction parts that don't fit but look the part. When you contact the manufacturer they'll give you a lame response like "oh well it's a 50 year old car or second hand car, it's too late to change the tooling now".

Some reproduction parts are good and some of the company's have good customer service but unfortunately that's not the norm.

I’d go original where possible.

Some reproduction parts won't last as long as original either.
