A great read on Dublin's link LJ GTR - Members Projects & Plans - GMH-Torana
Does anyone have photos of the LJ GTRs Police Interior with mounted gauges, switches, etc.
Also, did the LJ GTR Police have a towbar fitted as a part of their police package?

Thanks for the information. Would you have any photos of these key locations? Did the LJ have a hole for a roof mounted aerial - centre approx 5cm from the front windscreen rubber?

That was a 70s thing to have the radio aerial mounted in that spot.
A 2 way radio aerial would have been mounted roughly in the centre of the roof

Yep, directly above the interior light was the easiest position to install a roof mount radio ariel. All the cool cars had one on the 80's.

So, above the interior light is not a police aerial mounting location, just a cool 70s and 80s fitting location?
On police LJ GTRs, were there switches or something fitted on the metal panel below the centre factory radio recess?

From memory they didnt do a lot of drilling into fascia panels.
They generally added a bank of switches in a convenient spot, somewhere accessible to both driver and passenger.
I would reckon that switches below the radio would have been more of something an owner would have done for things like driving lights and fog lights.
Have a look under the bonnet for some screw holes between the battery and the firewall which could have been used to mount the fuse block.
The installation of the cop items was done back then for simplicity in adding them and then removing them prior to auction.
They were very basic in how they added the stuff. Rough even.
Cheers

Correct, police two way radio antenna were not mounted approx 5" back from the front screen rubber in the centre line of the roof (above the interior light.)
Do you have a VIN number for this GTR you are investigating?

I do not have the VIN numbers yet, as it is not my car.
When I had a look at the car, there were some potential LJ GTR Police identifiers and a far few extra holes of interests.
