Hey guys

Just going through settlement and my ex wants my lx torana sunbird hatchback officially appraised by someone professional or a car club official as she believes its a rare one

(i wish).

The torana is in pieces and never started, got an ls3 , 4l60e, 9inch ect and i've got laid up insurance with Shannon's for 57k.

She's not happy with the 57K valuation, so that's why i'm looking for someone to inspect and get an official letter for the lawyers.

Any help would be great thanks.

Oh and I've tried to get Shannon's out but they don't do that apparently.

AFAIK, most, if not all auctioneers are licensed valuers.

A friend who is going through similar circumstances has recently informed me Lloyds will perform an official valuation on his classic car for the princely sum of 1k.

I suspect the biggest hurdle you may face is getting someone to come to you rather than taking the vehicle to them.

Alternatively tell her you have made inquiries without any luck, so she is welcome to have a go at finding someone who is licensed and is willing to come look at the car to provide the written valuation.

What is the original spec according to the compliance plates?

If its a 4 cyl sunbird hatch in pieces with a bunch of parts then as a disposal sale its worth:

The car is worth 15-20 K assuming its all there.

The parts are worth half of what you paid for them if you paid retail.

You can always run it on eBay as a 3 day auction and ensure you are the top bidder.

Will provide a valid market value for how it all sits as is.

And Im happy to give you a written  confirmation of what I would pay for it.

When i was looking for a licensed valuator for insurance , i found one at my local Holden dealership.

Most of the main players will have one.

I think he charged me $150 to come to my door & value my wreck.

Yeah 1K is a bit rich i might just send photos of the plates and body no. so she can an idea that its just a sunbird.

Its a 4cyl, she thinks its some A9x but i might hit you up for that confirmation if cant find anything thanks.

Just tell he she can have the car as it is for $57k off the settlement price or she can come and collect half a car. That you’ll willingly cut it in half and deliver it to her door.
If she won’t accept your valuation and wants it valued your ex should pay to have it valued, not you.

That  should sit her back down in a hurry.

^^I'd do the same. You can buy some pretty nice cars for $57k.

Hi Howie,

I know someone who does asset valuations that include poker machines, farm machinery, boats and lots of random stuff.

Have asked if he can do it and he is on the coast, let you know what response I get

Cheers, Tom

Not a good position to be in Howie Mate,

But make everything equal Zero, and she can have half of that.  :deal:

For those of us that put our pride and joy into making a dream come to life,

you also need to factor in the time and cost to complete the Tory.

Add 57k to that, equals Zero to Wife.  :clappin:
