Has anyone bought these for their car?

How do they look and fit compared to originals?

I bought a set from Rares many moons ago. I repainted the black as it was a bit thin and whipped off easily with any decent cleaner. Apart from that, a very good fit etc.

I bought a pair a few years ago. The black plastic was like a flat/satin black which matched my blackouts on the back of my hatch to a tee. I didn't have to touch them, just bolted them straight on and was happy with the look.

I bought a pair about 18 months ago in black.

Great fit and look good, can't fault them.

Regards Mando.

Ill have to pull mine out one day and get them painted gloss black. The flat/matte finish mine have stand out badly with the gloss black bodywork.

Good old fashion masking up and painting. Wasn't too much of a drama really.

I’ve actually just pulled mine off whilst the car is out of the carcoon.

Should I go gloss black?

Whilst I’ve got these tail lights out. Is the rubber gasket meant to be bonded to the body? Currently I’ve got it wedged in between the lens and the aluminium base.

The gasket is shown in the parts book. But I cannot find mention of the tail lights in the workshop manual. It does make a brief reference to refer to the brake light assy for changing bulbs. But that section is MIA......? Im sure Ive read somewhere that the gasket was bonded to the body.

Hi Brad, pretty sure when i had big toranas the gasket was definitely bonded to the vehicle body, not that actual tail light mate.

I had concrete organised for sometime in May, and they turned up on the 1st, so this week has seen me running around like a headless chook.

Very nice Laurie. I think I prefer the gloss finish though.

Gentle reminder mate.

Pulled them out yesterday Brad.  They were definately bonded to the body, and I can't see any evidence of them having been removed before.  The glue almost looks like one of those old Selly's Aquadhere type of things from the 70's. It looks like it may have been quite clear, but it isn't any sort of silicone.  The outside of the gasket (between it and the tail light) has a thin layer of the black body sealer, similar to what holds the plastic seals on the door holes behind the trim.

Awesome mate!!! Thanks very much for taking the time to check that out!!! I wonder if a contact type cement would suffice? Or just go neutral cure silicone?
