Question on behalf of my son regarding shift improvement in a Triamtic gearbox behind a 253. There is plenty of on line discussion regarding drilling out holes in the separator plate however all the posted images have disappeared. Can anyone post up an image and details showing the modifications to the separator plate or better yet a shift kit instruction sheet. Thanks

I still have this image:

Don't go overboard on the drilling.

As far as I'm aware there is no off-the-shelf shift kit for Trimatic.

There are some pretty cluey Trimatic builders in Victoria. Race Glides is one from memory.

Yeah I was gonna say that I bought a full manual valve body for one years ago but I couldn't remember who/what/where from. That Traumatic also got beefed up by some mob in Sydney who's name, yet again, I can't remember (but that was three decades ago anyway so who knows if they're even still around), I don't think it was "AllTranz" though?

Made it a completely different animal to drive, even with the standard shifter. HQ Monaro LS with 12 inches of rubber under the rear guards and this thing would chirp the tyres through the gears (till the Salisbury self-destructed... but that's another story)! ;)
