Hi all

I'm looking at buying some parts from a private seller interstate who I don't know. What do people recommend or use to ensure that nothing dodgy happens. What I mean is, that the seller is legit,  and a secure way of paying, and ensuring the parts are freighted.

Cheers

Brysie

Maybe get somebody you trust from the forums to pay a visit?

A conundrum.
Seller want's the money before parts leave.
Buyer wants the parts before money leaves.
Need to be comforable in your own mind before pulling the trigger.
Always a worry when buying or selling.
I hear if you use Paypal you can theoretically claim your payment back for non supply... ut I imagine it's a process.

As suggested, face to face or face to a trusted agent is best bet.

You could put his name and suburb on here and most of us know who's trust worthy seller.

What platform are they advertised on?

Old torana parts? Always best to see in person if possible.

PayPal is excellent.

Thanks for the replies fellas.

And thanks for the offer to have a look for me LCK186, if it was in Melb. Its an XU1 head in Bombala, if anyone from down that way is available to have a look for me, it would be very much appreciated. A friend let me know about it from marketplace, as I don't have facebook.

Cheers

Ive had a few conversations with the seller, and to be honest I don't think things add up.

Out of curiosity has anyone come across a dude from Bombala area by the name of Michael Richards, who has a marketplace name of Richard Mickelson. Supposedly has several containers of mixed car parts, Holden, Ford, etc.

I'ts unlikely I'm going to go ahead with the deal unless someone can verify this fella or possibly view the head for me. If anyone knows someone in that area who could view this for me it would be very much appreciated, and obviously I'd be happy to compensate them for their time and effort.

Thanks for the advice

I didn't go ahead with the deal, as I had a gut feeling about it. I have heard that someone did buy it and yes it was supposedly a scam. I will post more details, when I find out more about it, as I wouldn't like to rubbish someone and not know the facts. But if anyone comes across this fellas name I'd be very wary.
